1. Scope and Controller
MonkPop is the provider and data controller responsible for personal data processed through MonkPop, except where another party is identified as an independent controller. This Policy applies to the MonkPop app, this website, customer support, safety operations and related services. It does not govern third-party websites, ticketing services, venues or platforms that publish their own privacy notices.

Information from others
We may receive information from app stores, authentication providers, event organizers, service providers, other users who interact with or report content, and publicly available sources, in each case as permitted by law.
3. How We Use Personal Data
- create, secure and administer accounts and profiles;
- deliver event discovery, community feeds, voice features, messaging, comments, reactions and social connections;
- personalize content and event recommendations based on activity and interests;
- process event participation and provide related notices;
- operate reporting, blocking, moderation, fraud-prevention and community-safety systems;
- respond to support, privacy and legal requests;
- maintain, analyze, debug and improve the app, website and services;
- send service messages and, where permitted or with consent, promotional communications;
- enforce our Terms, Community Guidelines and other policies; and
- comply with law, protect rights and respond to valid legal process.
MonkPop does not use private messages or voice content for advertising. We do not sell personal data for money. If our practices change in a way that requires consent or an opt-out right, we will provide the required choice before the new processing begins.
4. How We Disclose Personal Data
- Other users and the public. Profile information and content set to public or shared with a community may be visible to others. Direct messages are visible to their participants, subject to safety review where permitted by law and necessary to address abuse.
- Service providers. Hosting, storage, content delivery, analytics, communications, customer support, authentication, security and moderation vendors may process data under contractual restrictions.
- Event and feature partners. When you choose to join an event or use an integrated service, we may provide the data necessary to complete that action after giving relevant notice.
- Legal and safety recipients. We may disclose information to comply with law, lawful process or enforceable government requests, or when reasonably necessary to protect people, rights, property and service integrity.
- Corporate transactions. Data may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, insolvency or sale of assets, subject to applicable safeguards.
- At your direction. We disclose information when you instruct us to do so or provide consent.
We do not authorize service providers to use personal data for their own unrelated marketing.
5. Legal Bases for Processing
Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR require a legal basis, we rely on: contract to provide the service you request; legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving and responsibly promoting MonkPop, balanced against your rights; consent for optional permissions or communications where required; and legal obligation to comply with applicable law. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the service, maintaining account history, protecting safety, resolving disputes and meeting legal, tax or regulatory obligations. Retention depends on the data type, sensitivity, context, legal requirements and safety risk. Deleted content may remain for a limited period in backups or where retention is necessary for fraud prevention, safety investigations, legal claims or compliance. When retention is no longer necessary, we delete or de-identify the data.
7. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, obtain a copy of, correct, delete or restrict personal data; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; receive portable data; opt out of certain sale, sharing or targeted advertising; limit certain uses of sensitive data; and appeal a decision on a request. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
You can manage profile visibility, notifications, blocks and device permissions through the app or device settings. To exercise a privacy right, visit our Contact page or email support@monkpop.app. We may verify your identity and authority before acting. Authorized agents may submit requests where local law permits. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
California notice: The categories collected are identifiers, internet or electronic activity, approximate or precise geolocation when enabled, user-generated audio/visual content, inferences from interests and activity, and account credentials or message contents that may qualify as sensitive information. The sources, purposes and recipient categories are described above. MonkPop does not sell personal information for money and does not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18.
8. International Data Transfers
MonkPop may process data in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms, together with appropriate technical and organizational protections. You may contact us for information about applicable safeguards.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, monitoring and incident-response procedures. No system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping account credentials confidential and for notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized access.
10. Age Requirement
MonkPop is intended only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that a person under 18 has provided personal data, we will take reasonable steps to remove it and close the account. A parent or guardian who believes a minor has used MonkPop should contact us immediately.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the service, technology, law or business operations. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and provide additional notice where required. Material changes will not apply retroactively where prohibited by law.
